It's getting harder and harder to choose each month... I am a single mother of two lovely girls that needs help to pay rent. Thank you for hearing me out. I was laid off from my job recently because there was no work for me to do and I did not think this would happen to me and I have been trying to find another job but its so hard to make a living in New Orleans and it is getting harder.
My rent is due and I hope my landlord will be understanding because I just do not have the money to pay it. I have two little girls, 11 and 13 and I am so scared we will be put on the streets. We have been homeless before and had to live out of the car, but those days are gone now and I was blessed with this apartment that I don't want to lose.
I do not want to disappoint my girls, so if you all can find it in your heart to help us, this will be amazing.
Recently, you suggested that Modest Needs fund application number 113108, "Help Me And My Little Girls", which came to us from a person living in Harvey, LA.
Today, it is my pleasure to tell you that at your direction, and thanks to your generosity, Modest Needs has sent a check in the amount of $490.00 directly to the vendor named in this applicant's documentation packet.
In response to your kindness, this applicant has forwarded the following 'Thank you' note to Modest Needs, which we wanted to share with you - one of the people who made it possible for us to fund this very special request for help:
"thank god first of all and now i like to think you beauiful people and i want to thank god for touching yall hearts and my two little girls say thanks for helping there mom and thanks for helping us we will not get put out of our house and i am still looking for a job with god on my side a door will open thank forever della and the girls."

Donate... Blood on My Carpet/Help Me Move On
I was shot inside my home in January 2009 and my daughter was killed instantly. There was substantial blood loss and the carpeting in the living room and the hallway of my home cannot be cleaned and needs to be removed and replaced.
I have had several surgeries since the attack and the doctors have stated that I will need more; I have sustained critical injuries to my jaw and face. I am currently living with my sister because I cannot bear to look at the carpeting or to be in the home as it is right now with the bullet holes in the wall and front door.
I am seeing a therapist and with time, am sure that I will be able to cope with the pain and emptiness of losing a child. I want to move on with my life and return to my home but as it is right now I cannot cope with the memories of that terrible morning. I am asking you to help me repair these damages. Thank you for consideration of this request.
Today, it is my pleasure to tell you that at your direction, and thanks to your generosity, Modest Needs has sent a check in the amount of $658.84 directly to the vendor named in this applicant's documentation packet.
In response to your kindness, this applicant has forwarded the following 'Thank you' note to Modest Needs , which we wanted to share with you - one of the people who made it possible for us to fund this very special request for help:
"to simply say Thank You for all that Modest Needs donors do for the applicants for assistance is such a small gesture. I am so very grateful to all that you have done for me that I cannot begin to express myself and I am glad this is in writing and not face to face because my eyes are so swollen from crying that it would not be a pretty picture. Thank You donors and may you be forever blessed by your kindness. I shall forever be thankful to all of you."
On behalf of this person whose life you've changed, thank you so very much for your ongoing support of Modest Needs . Without you, these miracles would not be possible.

Government sucks off GM while putting it in taxpayers. Is there a reason that this doesn't make sense, with respect to General Motors? The taxpayers are destined to be on the hook for the pensions anyway, so why doesn't the government force GM to break up, leaving the pension guarantees with General Motors, but sell off Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Vauxhall, Wuling and GMAC? Use the proceeds of the sale to fund the guarantees.
The parts are worth way more than the whole, especially without the spectre of the guarantees looming. Fund as much of the pension as you can before you stick it in the taxpayer.
I hate the government.

Modest Needs Rules I don't know how to explain what the death of my daughter has done to us. I can't do a lot of thing I used to do, like grocery shopping. I tried that last week and I broke down when I saw strawberries, they were Abi's favorite. And when they tried taking me to WalMart, I lost it in the sock department because I about Abi socks every time I went there.
I cry all the time and I have a difficult time even leaving my room. My son ended up in the hospital after a breakdown. He's home now, but he did have to drop out of college for a semester.
My husband has been a saint through this and he asked if he could work overtime, but they said they cannot give him it at this time. Actually, they just let go five people and we are really grateful that he even has a job. We used all the money in our savings and our tax return to pay for the funeral.
I have been renting places since I was 17 and have never been late, so getting this month's rent paid will really mean a lot to us. I hate being late with my bills. At least my landlord understands enough and he is waiving the late fee. Having the rent paid will allow me to not worry about being homeless on top of everything. Thank you for the kindness you have shown my family.
In response to your kindness, this applicant has forwarded the following 'Thank you' note to Modest Needs, which we wanted to share with you - one of the people who made it possible for us to fund this very special request for help:
"Thank you. Those words alone cannot express the gratitude I have for all the wonderful, caring people at Modest Needs . I cried when I read the email this morning and my hands are still shaky as I write this. Having this rent paid is like removing a dark cloud from above my head. I cannot wait until I can make a difference in someones life by making donations to Modest Needs . I believe my daughter would greatly approve with my decision to memorialize her in this way. Thank you again and may God keep you all in his hands."

For those of you that may be having a rough run at FTP, take heart and change rooms. FTP has become a rock garden. It's only three rooms, but no matter how you filter, FTP rocks are always the tightiest! Making diamonds out of Tequila is a terrible waste of perfectly good alcohol. Why can't they use flavorless, bland alcohols like Vodka? Or shitty things like apple schnapps? Wasting Tequila that might someday become El Corazon Anejo should be a crime.

Tough guy cop narrowly escapes death in a harrowing situation. Actually, he shot a puppy. On a leash. In a yard he had no right to be in. I think the appropriate punishment is to put the fucker on a leash, cover him in pig's blood and drop him into a pack of wild dogs. _______________________________________________

This article could have the alternative title of "District Attorneys continue to make sex offender registry a national joke"
Yes, we should ruin the lives of the ever-dangerous streakers. Colorado treats streakers who've served their sentence worse than it treats people convicted of homicide.
Also, take note that a gang rape took place that morning. Cops still with no leads. But everyone should feel safe tonight, the naked guys with pumpkins on their heads have been apprehended and will be marked with the Scarlet Letter for the rest of their lives.

"He sold out," a police source said of Diaz. "And worse, he put drugs back on the street instead of taking them off."
So, let me understand this Mr. Police source. The WORST part of this is that the drugs are back on the street. Not that there are crooked cops. Not that the public trust was completely undermined. Not that he possibly took part in violence against another person. The WORST part is the drugs are back on the street. Here's a spoon, eat my ass. _______________________________________________
If I had to watch the last 15 years of the Chicago Blackhawks, game in and game out, I'd probably kick it at the arena too.
While watching her favorite team, the Blackhawks, play at the United Center on Monday, Marguerite Kuhlman collapsed and later died.
Patricia and Dorothea Kuhlman said that even more peculiar than the death of their sister, 68, at the hockey game is the fact that their mother died under similar circumstances nearly 22 years ago. Mildred Kuhlman died March 30, 1986, while attending a Blackhawks game at Chicago Stadium, Patricia Kuhlman said.
I wouldn't bet against Bettman making this the centerpiece of an "exciting new" ad campaign for the NHL.
"We've been hockey fans for many, many years," Patricia Kuhlman said. "People laugh at us because we're old ladies who like to go to hockey games."
Nah, people laugh because you go to Blackhawks games. _______________________________________________

Harrah's exec says odds for return of legal online poker improved
Harrah's Entertainment's top executive said today he believes the odds for legalized online poker improved with the results from Tuesday's national elections.
Chairman and CEO Gary Loveman, responding to a question during a conference call reporting the company's third quarter earnings, described the prospect for the legalizing of Internet poker as "relatively good."
The prospects for legalizing other casino games and sports betting on the Internet, however, remain poor, according to Loveman.
Loveman said he liked the outcome not because of the addition of Democrats, but because none of the leadership on the committees dealing with the issue "is violently opposed to this process."
Loveman admitted Harrah's has more of a business interest in seeing Internet poker legalized ahead of other types of betting – the company owns the World Series of Poker brand.
"This is something we're going to be working hard at and we think the world got easier on this one," Loveman said.
These are really interesting comments. I know that they are a private company so reporting these things isn't held to nearly the same standards as a public one, but it's still interesting to hear him on record about it. _______________________________________________
The Apollo Alliance, a San Francisco coalition of environmental and labor groups, ... released a study in September. It concluded that five million green jobs could be had with an investment of $500 billion -- more than three times Mr. Obama's number [ of $150 billion].
Kate Gordon, co-director of the Apollo Alliance, says the numbers are less important than the message. "Honestly," she says, "it's just to inspire people." So as long as he inspires people he can lie. And it was bad when Bush lied, but it's good when Obama lies. As long as the rhetoric is what you want to hear, thruthfulness is an afterthought.
